On Monday, Mumbai resident Abhijeet Kini had written to the Mumbai airport operator and Jet Airways management about how the wheelchair attendants had asked the elderly women to pay hefty tips while they were travelling to New York from the Mumbai airport on May 27.
The attendant took away the wheelchairs and asked the senior citizen couple to take the aerobridge when their demands were turned down.
“Based on the guest complaint, we carried out an internal investigation and have terminated the services of the two attendants who did not follow the prescribed Jet Airways process of handling guest requirements,” said a Jet Airways spokesperson.
According to airport sources the prompt action was possible because of the CCTV footage that captured the incident.
The Mumbai International Airport Limited had also initiated a parallel probe.
