The girl approached the Samta Nagar police on the same day and the accused was arrested on Saturday.

Suresh Nagraj Paller (21), a salesman in a private firm, had met the girl who worked at a store in Borivli six months ago. Sub-Inspector Rajendra Nikam of Samta Nagar police station said on September 6, Suresh proposed to the girl and convinced her to elope with him.

The girl, a Kandivli resident, agreed to the proposal. Suresh then took the girl to Dadar the same day and then the couple boarded a train to Chennai.

“Paller and the girl checked into a lodge in Chennai where they stayed for three days. Paller raped her repeatedly, telling her that they would get married as soon as they check out of the lodge,” Nikam said.

“Paller told the girl that her parents had lodged a complaint and, until the matter, was settled, they would hide in the lodge,” Nikam added.

On September 10, Paller allegedly brought the girl to Mumbai and left her at Borivli station and returned home.

“Tracing Paller was not difficult. We arrested him from his house in Anna Nagar on Saturday,” Nikam said.
