Kherwadi flyover | Nariman Point to Dahisar in 1.5 hrs: A pleasant evening peak-hour surprise
Not just me, my taxi driver, too, was surprised on Monday evening, as thanks to the Kherwadi flyover, our journey from Nariman Point to Dahisar ended in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Not just me, my taxi driver, too, was surprised on Monday evening, as thanks to the Kherwadi flyover, our journey from Nariman Point to Dahisar ended in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
When we started from Vidhan Bhavan at Nariman Point around 5.30pm, we were expecting traffic snarls at the Aarey flyover in Andheri and Peddar Road.
While the traffic at Peddar Road was slow-moving, the traffic policemen ensured we didn’t get stuck. As we headed towards the Haji Ali junction, the traffic movement continued at a slow pace.
Once we were on the Kherwadi flyover, we whizzed past the road within minutes. But we were sure same
wouldn’t be the case at the Aarey flyover. As expected, our vehicle slowed down along the stretch.
The bikers, who blatantly violated traffic norms, posed a minor hurdle in our otherwise smooth journey.
But, although we were moving at a speed of 10km an hour, at no point did we stop.
From there, we reached Jogeshwari within an hour.
“I am surprised that we didn’t get stuck at the Aarey flyover. It used to be extremely chaotic and congested before the opening of the Kherwadi flyover,” said the driver, at the end of the journey.
The verdict: The Kherwadi flyover will be a time-saver, only if the city traffic policemen and bikers cooperate.
