The Pandeys have had frequent arguments with the residents over various matters in the past.

Chunky’s pub Elbo Room in Khar (West) had run into a controversy with citizens protesting against it, alleging irregularities.

Then recently, Chunky’s sister-in-law Deanne Pandey’s fitness centre ran into trouble with residents, after a financial dispute.

Aftab Siddiqui, chairperson, 33rd Road Advanced Locality Management (ALM), said: “We are enlisting the support of citizen groups throughout between Bandra and Khar who feel that the Pandeys don’t deserve to have a road named after their late father.”

The residents had allegedly defaced the sign marking the junction at St Andrew and St Dominic roads in Bandra named after Dr Pandey.
