Maharashtra home minister R R Patil on Monday said that he would write to the CBI, asking it to look into the confession of jailed RSS leader Swami Aseemanand, to know whether it was made in his individual capacity or the official stance of his organisation (RSS).

Aseemanand, prime accused in Mecca Masjid blast case, had confessed that he and several Sangh activists, among others, had a direct role in Malegaon, Samjhauta Express, Ajmer and Mecca blasts.

On demand by several delegations which met him on Monday, Patil said that they have sought a ban on the RSS.

"Any organisation which is involved in terrorist activities should be banned. I have asked ATS to get history sheet of the organisations (involved in terror acts)," Patil told reporters.
