Man arrested for extortion attempt on actor
A Kolkata-based man who contacted a Bhojpuri actor and attempted to extort money in exchange for her life has been arrested. HT reports.

A Kolkata-based man who contacted a Bhojpuri actor and attempted to extort money in exchange for her life has been arrested. He alleged that another Bhojpuri actor given him a contract to kill her.
The police said Rani Chatterjee, who is originally from Kolkata, began receiving messages on her mobile phone from a person who claimed to be a tantrik. The man, Ajay Pandey said another Bhojpuri actor, Pawan Singh, had given him the contract to kill her.
“Pandey further said in the messages that he would not kill her if she paid him some money. Chatterjee registered a police complaint on December 15,” said Anand Bhoir, police sub inspector Pandey was arrested in Kolkata and is out on bail.
