Man held for Rs. 1.25-cr fraud

A 46-year-old real estate agent was arrested by the Charkop police on Tuesday for allegedly duping at least 24 persons of around Rs. 1.25 crore under the false promise of getting them flats in the Mhada quarters at Charkop, Kandivli (W).

A 46-year-old real estate agent was arrested by the Charkop police on Tuesday for allegedly duping at least 24 persons of around Rs. 1.25 crore under the false promise of getting them flats in the Mhada quarters at Charkop, Kandivli (W).

The accused, Mohammad Sheikh, is a school drop-out who has allegedly been running the scam since 2007. He forged documents with Mhada letterheads. He has been booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (punishment for forgery).
