The man who threw acid on a 22-year-old woman he fancied on Saturday evening was arrested by the Mulund police on Sunday.

The man who threw acid on a 22-year-old woman he fancied on Saturday evening was arrested by the Mulund police on Sunday.
The man identified as Dilip Gaikwad, has been remanded in police custody till December 24.
According to the Mulund police, the incident took place on Netaji Subhashchandra Road in Mulund (west) when the victim, Rani Shaikh, was on her way back from work in an autorickshaw.
“When the autorickshaw halted at a signal, Gaikwad who had been following Shaikh, threw acid on her face and fled,” said PI Chandrakant Thakur from the Mulund police station.
Shaikh told police that Gaikwad, who is her colleague, had been pleading with her to leave her husband and marry him. He was enraged when she refused.
