After a week of scant rain, heavy showers were witnessed in various parts of the city on Tuesday.

Officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Tuesday’s rain indicated that the monsoon system had revived.
While Colaba recorded 13.5mm rain, Santacruz recorded 16.8mm. “It appears that the trough off the coast has become active. But it is feeble and not very significant at this point,” said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD.
Weathermen have forecast frequent spells and even heavy rain in some parts of the city on Wednesday. “There is good cloud cover over Mumbai, Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan. The winds are strong and bringing along moisture. It looks like the monsoon has revived but we will wait for another day,” said Rajeev.
The accumulation of moisture got humidity levels soaring in south Mumbai at 95% and 90% in the suburbs.
On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in south Mumbai was 29.2° Celsius and 30.9° Celsius at Santacruz. While the minimum temperature at Colaba was 27.6° Celsius, it was 25.2° Celsius at Santacruz.
Since June 1, Colaba has recorded 460.8mm rain and Santacruz has received 658.5mm.
