The family of Shreya Bhosle, 37, who drowned in a swimming pool at Vile Parle on Tuesday, is not convinced that her death was an accident.
“How is it possible that no guard or instructor was near the pool? We don’t understand why she returned to the pool after coming out. The trainers claim the institute has produced national-level athletes. Despite that, they want us to believe there was no CCTV camera on the premises. Also, her body was found floating, which is not possible within minutes of the incident. It takes hours for a body to float,” said Bhosle’s husband Sushant.
The 37-year-old joined swimming classes 15 days ago and Tuesday was the last day of her course. “She and her friend Chaya Parab were to join the classes together. She really wanted to learn swimming and was planning to extend the course for a few more days,” said Sushant.
Bhosle, a human resource executive at an advertising firm at Santacruz, completed her MBA six months ago. The Bhosles are distraught. “She called me from her office in the morning and told me to find her favourite bracelet. Whenever she used to ask me for such things, I used to ignore, but on Tuesday I actually looked for the bracelet and was planning to play a prank on her. I waited till 10.30pm, but she never returned,” he said.
Bhosle’s 10-year-old son is still in state of shock.“He keeps asking me about Shreya. He knows something is wrong, and has gone quiet,” said Sushant.
Parab said, “We had decided to learn swimming together, but for some reason I couldn’t join with her. I cannot believe she is no more.”
