Last month, the Nationalist Congress Party had demanded that the Dadar railway station be renamed as ‘Chaityabhoomi’ after a nearby memorial of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar by the same name.

Athawale was talking to reporters after RPI's two-day state-level executive committee meeting.

He also said that the final decision regarding a formal alliance with the Shiv Sena would be declared by October this year after party meetings in Solapur, Nagpur and Amravati.

"The Shivshakti-Bhimshakti alliance should remain at a local level and not affect assembly elections," he said, adding that the seat adjustment will be solved later on.

Athawale also said that the RPI is firmly supporting social activist Anna Hazare to amend the Jan Lokpal Bill.
