Young entrepreneurs from around the country create unique platform in city to promote their workmumbai Updated: Dec 01, 2012 16:20 IST
A catchphrase like ‘Follow your heart’ would probably sound good in a Hollywood movie, but a group of youngsters from all across the country have managed to transform it into reality. Kalyani Khone, a 19-year-old, has just started her own event-management company, through which she will be organising an event that promotes other young entrepreneurs like her. Called The Network, the event will not only showcase fashion and apparel start-ups, but also host workshops where participants can interact with
veterans from the industry.
“We have artists from Goa, Assam, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai showcasing their work. Most of them are young students or people who have left their day jobs to dedicate all their time towards their respective companies,” says Khone. Some of the brands that will be putting up stalls at the event include Wow Mom from Goa, Chickanbarn from Lucknow, B-Baked from Bengaluru, XOXO accessories, among others. “Apart from my own personal contacts, I reached out to these start-ups with the help of their Facebook and Pinterest pages,” adds Khone.
All brands participating have funded the event. While Khone paid for the location, the money collected from the others was used in marketing the event and the products. Shirin Gadbade, who will be launching her collection of party wear ensembles at the event says, “I expect to increase the reach of my collection and meet like-minded entrepreneurs from all over the country.”
