In his message to the Christian community for World Communications Day on January 23, Pope Benedict XVI had said, “As new technologies create deeper forms of relationship across greater distances, (priests) are called to respond pastorally by putting the media ever more effectively at the service of the Word.”
The session is part of an ongoing series of seminars on various topics conducted for priests every year.
“Though senior priests in Mumbai use computers, they need to get more involved with the latest online and digital technologies,” said Father Melroy Fernandes, associate director of communications at the Archdiocese.
Fernandes has recently made a series of short educational films on topics ranging from communalism to the ill effects of media.
He hopes to distribute them in parishes all over the city to initiate discussions on these issues among the people.
