Suhas Kute, 27, worked at the Sadguru Krupa garage at the Wadgaon-Nimbalkar village. As Kute mishandled the cannon shell, it exploded, killing Kute on the spot, said deputy superintendent of police Ravindra Sinh Pardeshi.

According to the police, the British had stored arms and ammunition in a camp in the village in the 19th century. Even though the camp was disbanded later, villagers keep discovering cannon shells from the area.
The police said that the estimated weight of the cannon shell was around 200gm. The police have recovered the cartridge of the exploded cannon shell.
