‘People must keep eyes, ears open’

It is not sufficient just to light candles; the responsibility of citizens is to keep their eyes and ears open and stop people from wrongdoing, actor-director Nana Patekar said on Wednesday, a day after a 19-year-old girl was stabbed by her former boyfriend near the Thane railway station, even as passersby looked on.

It is not sufficient just to light candles; the responsibility of citizens is to keep their eyes and ears open and stop people from wrongdoing, actor-director Nana Patekar said on Wednesday, a day after a 19-year-old girl was stabbed by her former boyfriend near the Thane railway station, even as passersby looked on.

Patekar, who was in Thane for the police department’s Raising Day celebrations, was addressing a gathering at the Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruh society.
