Pilot arrested for molesting minor

The pilot of a leading private airline was arrested by the Samta Nagar police on Tuesday night for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl.

The pilot of a leading private airline was arrested by the Samta Nagar police on Tuesday night for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl. According to the police, the incident took place around 8.30pm when Uday Amarjeet Rawat, 31, was alone at his residence at Oberoi Gardens in Thakur Village, Kandivli (East). Rawat is a divorcee and lives alone, the police said.

“The victim is also a resident of Oberoi Gardens, but lives in another building. Rawat lured the girl to his residence with the promise of giving her chocolates and molested her,” said Anant Kenjale, a senior police inspector said.

The police added that the child was playing in the compound of the society when Rawat asked his maid to bring her to his residence saying she would be given chocolates. The maid followed the instructions and left after taking the child to Rawat’s house. She was unaware of Rawat’s intentions.

Rawat then started touching the victim inappropriately and kissing her. The frightened victim somehow managed to escape from Rawat’s residence and rushed to her house. She then narrated the incident to her father who approached the Samta Nagar police and lodged a complaint against Rawat.

“We lodged a complaint against Rawat as soon as the victim’s father approached us. We then arrested Rawat from his residence on charges of molestation,” Kenjale added.

Rawat was produced in court and was remanded in judicial custody. He was later released on bail, the police said.
