A traffic Police Constable was fatally knocked down by a tourist bus today morning at suburban Mahim, police said.

Suhas Sadanand Chavan (34) was on his way back home in suburban Malad after his duty when he was hit by the bus near Mahim Church.

The policeman was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, police said.

"The bus driver, Nirbhay Singh Rathod, has been arrested and a case of causing death by negligence registered against him," Deputy Commissioner of Police Brijesh Singh said.

The bus had come from neighbouring Gujarat.
