Police are now contemplating measures they can take to prevent the sea link from turning into a ‘suicide spot.’

In the three years since it was opened, three people have attempted suicide from the sea link, including Sheth. A fourth person, a 23-year-old woman, was stopped by a constable before she could jump off.

Dhananjay Kulkarni, deputy commissioner of police, zone 5, said the police planned to focus on increased patrolling.

“We may need step up patrolling, to ensure no one is allowed to enter the sea link on foot. We will need to pay special attention to this.”
