The farmers have been protesting for the past five days, since April 25, at the Konkan Divisional office in CBD Belapur here.

A meeting with the Konkan commissioner SS Sandhu on Thursday, which was attended by company officials of Tata and Reliance, did not have any fruitful result.

Sunil Naik, an activist of Shramik Mukti Dal, said, “This issue has been going on for past five years. There are large tracts of mangroves in the area, around the farmers’ lands. These mangroves will be affected badly by the projects.”
