Hindustan Times was the first to report, on February 13, that Dayal wanted to recommend to the government the closure of the Khar, Jogeshwari, Shahu Nagar (Dharavi), Vinoba Bhave Nagar (Kurla West) and Parkside (Vikhroli) police stations.

“I agree with Dayal that the condition of these police stations is very bad. They need to be housed elsewhere. I have asked him to survey areas around the five stations and look for alternative solutions. Till then, the existing police stations will continue work,” Patil said.
