Raising the issue in the Legislative Council, senior Sena MLC Diwakar Raote said, "It is a question of our pride and the Government should change the name."

Raote said a few years ago, he was assured by the then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh that the name would be changed.

"However, the Government has not kept its promise," Raote said.

Citing a proposal pending before the Centre over changing the names of Bombay, Madras and Calcutta High Courts, Raote said the state government should do so immediately.
