While Mumbaiites from western suburbs have begun getting relief from over-clocked meters, those living in eastern suburbs and the island city will have to wait for some time. This, due to the cold war between officials from the three Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).

Officials from Andheri RTO felt the need for support from the other two RTOs. “We are receiving flak from government officials after auto-rickshaw drivers went on strike. It would have been encouraging if the other two RTOs would have carried out similar drives against taxis and auto-rickshaw drivers,” said a senior RTO official from Andheri.
Officials from Tardeo RTO, said “We have been conducting such drives on regular intervals. This drive against auto-rickshaw drivers was one-off, which explains the hue and cry,” said an official from Tardeo RTO.
However, the Wadala RTO has planned to run a similar campaign in the next 10 days.
