Actor Sanjay Dutt has decided to stop endorsing gutkha brands and tobacco products.

On December 31, a doctors’ organisation, Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) in KEM Hospital, and Doctors for You had written a letter to the Munna Bhai star asking him to stop endorsing Goa Gutkha and other tobacco products and to quit smoking, as a New Year resolution.
“In the next two months, Dutt’s contract with the gutkha brand is getting over and 99 % he won’t renew it,” said Dharma Oberoi, CEO, Sanjay Dutt Productions.
Oberoi said that Dutt is also trying to quit smoking.
“We hope more people are motivated to kick tobacco habit,” said Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, associate professor, head and neck cancer department, Tata Memorial Hospital.
A NGO has also sent a letter to actor Malaika Arora Khan requesting her to stop endorsing Chaini Khaini, a gutkha brand.
“We have send copy of the letter to Hill Road Police station and BEST. If she doesn’t revert in seven days we plan to have silent protest outside her house,” said Vincent Nazareth, chairman, Crusade Against Tobacco.
