On Friday, Ahuja had complained that he was unable to even sit properly owing to severe pain in his back, and that he suspected he had a slipped-disc problem. He was also seen weeping inside the court room apparently due to the pain. Following this, his lawyers had moved a plea before the court that he should be shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Accordingly, the sessions court had directed officials of the Arthur Road Jail, where the actor is lodged, to provide medical treatment and admit him to a hospital if needed.

Ahuja was arrested on June 15 for allegedly raping his maid at his residence in suburban Oshiwara.

“He complained of severe pain and the jail doctor advised him to be admitted to the hospital for advanced treatment. So he was shifted on Saturday afternoon,” Jail officials said.

The sessions court is likely to frame charges against Ahuja on October 7, after hearing the arguments of both sides.
