The SIT told the sessions court that Suryavanshi is capable of destroying evidence and hampering the investigation, if he was granted bail.

The SIT said this follows the fact that his brother, ACP Dilip Suryavanshi, has sought documents such as the arrest memo, case dairy and correspondence details of SIT under the Right to Information Act.

The investigators said Suryavanshi had also threatened the magistrate inquiring into the case.

Suryavanshi’s bail application said the police report, witness statements and documents are “self-contradictory”.

His application said the witness statements recorded during the investigation indicated an encounter in November 2006, at Versova’s Nana-Nani Park.

Then, a new version said witnesses Anil Bheda and Gupta were abducted, followed by an alleged money dispute between Janardhan Bhange, another key accused, and Gupta.
