"Snacks such as salted peanuts, wafers which were earlier sold in plastic bags will now be sold in paper bags at Jan Ahar. Gradually, they will be available at food stalls too," said chief public relations officer VA Malegaonkar.

In addition, the administration has also asked Jan Ahar to increase the production of fresh food items like vada paav and sandwiches to give commuters more options. The CR has banned the sale of 25 items which were packaged in plastic wrappings, laminated plastics, metalised film packets, sulphite paper packing, aluminum foil packets, etc. The decision was taken after it was noticed that commuters threw the packets on the tracks, which went on to clog drains.
