In his application, Shah had stated that he was busy with some political activities in Lucknow.

The complainant’s lawyer, Vijay Hiremath, objected to the exemption plea, arguing that Shah was making a habit of seeking exemption from appearance.

“It has now become the question of the dignity of this court. He has not been present even once in this court. If he can come to the city for election campaign, then why not for the hearing,” added Hiremath.

The case will next be heard on October 30.
