“There needs to be a common programme that will provide facilities for adequate blood and transfusion for children suffering from
blood-related disorders, said state health minister, Suresh Shetty.

“There are many NGOs working on these issues along with the state government, but we need to give this more impetus,” he added.

Shetty was speaking at a programme organised by UNICEF, which was a state-level consultation on AIDS protection and HIV.

Shetty said the state would soon increase the number of blood checking facilities in the state of Maharahstra.

In addition to this, they also plan to give an impetus to the state’s blood banks in order to provide better services for the children who need them.
