The Right to Education (RTE) Act, which came into force in April 2010, prohibits schools from any screening such as holding tests or interviewing parents or child. If there is a second instance of a school found indulging in such practices, the fine would be Rs. 50,000.
Officials said schools would have to draw up an admission schedule and complete the process in that time.
