After last year’s amendment to the Bombay Police Act, this is the first time the government recovered money from a political party for vandalising public property.

Additional government pleader Niranjan Pandit informed the high court about the recovery.

Pandit also said 13 people were arrested in violence after manhandling of Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi in the state Assembly this week.

The collector had also sent a demand notice of Rs 7.8 lakh to Shiv Sena, for damaging property at Hotel Intercontinental, Sahar in January.
