State Teachers protest against NET/SLET notice

Teachers in Maharashtra are protesting against the state’s notification asking colleges to ensure that all teachers have passed the national or state level eligibility test (NET/SLET) by December 31, 2011, or else they could lose their affiliation.

The Maharashtra Federation of University College and Teachers’ Organisation (MFUCTO) has written to Rajesh Tope, higher and technical education minister, asking him to withdraw the “illegal” resolution. “The UGC has said it will clarify the issue with MHRD. So this notification is baseless,” said Madhu Paranjape, MFUCTO member.
