Third Eye Asian Film Festival begins Today

Director Shyam Benegal will be presented the Asian Film Culture Award at the inaugural function of the weeklong Third Eye Asian Film Festival on Friday.

Director Shyam Benegal will be presented the Asian Film Culture Award at the inaugural function of the weeklong Third Eye Asian Film Festival on Friday.

Award winning director and cinematographer, Shaji Karun, will also be felicitated by producer Manmohan Shetty at Plaza Cinema, Dadar.

This is the ninth edition of the film festival, organised by the Asian Film Foundation.

“The festival will showcase 110 films, from the Asian continent. The sole purpose of the festival is to propagate and nurture Asian film culture by showcasing the abundant talent that emerges from Asian films,” said festival chairman, Kiran Shantaram.

The films will be screened at the YB Chavan Centre, Plaza Theatre and Fun Republic.

The festival will open with Iraqi film, Son of Babylon, and the closing film would be Anant Mahadevan’s, I am Sindhutai Sapkal.

Director Mrinal Sen’s Akaler Sandhane will also feature as a centerpiece film on Friday.
