Truck jumps divider, crushes car under it

A truck laden with cement lost control and rammed into a car, overturning on it. Fortunately, no lives were lost and the occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries.

A truck laden with cement lost control and rammed into a car, overturning on it. Fortunately, no lives were lost and the occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries.

The incident occurred at around 6 am on Thursday at Uran Phata, off Palm Beach road.

The truck jumped the divider and overturned on the car crushing half the vehicle under its weight.

Madhukar Sinha (46), a resident of Mayur building located at Yashodham, Goregaon (East), was driving the car. He, along with his wife and seven-year-old son was on his way to Goa when the accident took place.

Constable P. Awarhi of CBD Belapur police station said, “While Sinha’s family escaped, he was trapped in the car. The fire brigade personnel were called in to get him out.”

A severely injured Sinha was given an oxygen mask to breathe. The personnel had to cut through the mangled iron to get him out safely.

All of them have been admitted to MGM hospital in Vashi.

Awarhi added, “They are all out of danger.”

The police have arrested the truck driver Mohammad Shiekh (24), a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Govandi on charges of rash driving.
