This year, the fire brigade department has not renewed the NOC of the club citing irregularities in the fire mitigation system. Every year in December, the fire department renews the NOCs issued to multiplexes, auditoriums and clubs.

Fire officials said the NOC is renewed only after the premises are surveyed and the fire-fighting installations are in place and in working condition. "When we visited the turf club in December, we observed that a lot of fire safety norms were flouted," said a fire official.

The restaurants on the club’s premise are also not following the rules. "The restaurants functioning on the premise of the club store gas cylinders. They must have separate cabins for their storage," added the officer.

The fire officials had asked the management of the club to install fire safety equipment and a sprinkler system at the race course stands. The fire department’s report prepares in January rejected the renewal of the club’s licence and sent a letter asking it to correct the defect.

Confirming that the club’s fire NOC is not renewed, RWITC secretary B.A. Engineer said all necessary corrective steps were being taken.
