“He is fine now and has taken the advised rest at the hospital. He was given a discharge certificate after we ensured he was fully fit,” said chest physician Dr Jalil Parkar who was part of Dr Samuel Mathew’s team that conducted the angiography.

Doctors at the hospital previously said he would be discharged on Sunday, but Thackeray decided to prolong his stay and asked to be discharged on Monday.

“He will be on symptomatic treatment and can resume party affairs whenever he wants to,” said another hospital doctor. Thackeray will have to undergo regular medical investigations.

Member of Parliament and senior Sena leader Sanjay Raut, who met Thackeray at his residence, said, “He is in good health and will resume work soon.”
