UP cop murder: Wives of accused arrested

The special task force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police, along with the Mumbai crime branch arrested the wives of criminals Chandrakumar and Rishikumar Singh on Monday.

The special task force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police, along with the Mumbai crime branch arrested the wives of criminals Chandrakumar and Rishikumar Singh on Monday.

A crime branch official, requesting anonymity, said that Chandrakumar's wife Babli and Rishikumar's wife Sudha were arrested and produced before a local court who granted a transit remand of 48 hours to the UP police.

The brothers, who, along with their wives, were accused of murdering a UP police constable Ajay Yadav in January, were arrested on Saturday after they opened fire at the police in Deonar.

"Babli and Sudha will be taken to UP by the STF, while the brothers will be handed over after the Mumbai crime branch finishes their probe," officials said.
Apart from the constable's murder, the brothers were also arrested in another murder case connected to a property dispute.
