Wanted criminal arrested in Dahisar
Gopal Shetty alias Shettiyar – the prime accused in the January 7-murder of vegetable vendor Ayub Abdul Aziz Khan Pathan – was arrested by unit 12 of the crime branch from Dahisar on Friday.
Gopal Shetty alias Shettiyar – the prime accused in the January 7-murder of vegetable vendor Ayub Abdul Aziz Khan Pathan – was arrested by unit 12 of the crime branch from Dahisar on Friday.
Pathan was the prime witness in the murder of his partner Shankar alias Bunty Jain, reportedly killed by Shettiyar in 2007. Released on bail, Shettiyar had threatened Pathan against testifying in court and had reportedly sought extortion money from him.
On January 7, Shettiyar and his three aides abducted Pathan who was heading towards Mira Road with his assistant Yogesh on a bike. Dragging the duo to their Qualis, they allegedly assaulted them.
They, then, drove into the jungles of Virar where Pathan was strangulated with a belt.
The police recovered Pathan’s body from the jungle and registered a case at Wada police station.
