Ward boy molests trainee nurse, held

The Azad Maidan police arrested a ward boy of GT Hospital for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old trainee nurse on Saturday morning. The police said the 54-year-old man followed the nurse inside the operation theatre (OT) and later groped her from behind.

The accused, Mohan Dhamale, a class IV employee, has been working as a ward boy in the hospital for several years, police said. The incident took place around 8.30am.

The woman raised an alarm and rushed to her teachers in the premises. She was then taken to higher authorities to report the incident.

Later, the woman, along with the authorities, lodged a complaint with the Azad Maidan police. Dhamale was arrested soon after. The police have booked him under section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code and he would be produced in a holiday court on Sunday.

Sanjay Dalvi, inspector of Azad Maidan police, said: “We have registered a case against the accused. We will thoroughly investigate the incident.”

The hospital authorities said they were looking into the matter and would soon initiate the process to suspend Dhamale.
