Woman remanded in custody for assault

Rahima Sheikh alias Fantoos was remanded to police custody till Sunday, in connection with an alleged assault case that was registered two months ago.

Rahima Sheikh alias Fantoos was remanded to police custody till Sunday, in connection with an alleged assault case that was registered two months ago.

Sheikh is also accused of allegedly trying to extort money from a person allegedly on behalf of Sanjeev Kokil, senior police inspector, MRA marg police. “Sheikh had filed an anticipatory bail application in the sessions court in the extortion case. We also registered a case of criminal intimidation against her,” said Anil Mahabole, assistant commissioner of police.

Mahabole also said in the criminal intimidation case, the Ballard Pier metropolitan magistrate’s court granted her protection. Recently, Kokil had written a letter to the commissioner of police, Sanjeev Dayal alleging that Mahabole and a police inspector are trying to falsely implicate him in an extortion case.

“It is very sad that my immediate superior is trying to implicate me in a false case. I have already written to the CP and I will ensure action is taken against Mahabole,” said Kokil.
