The Parksite police extricated a woman’s body, around 55 years old, from a quarry in Powai.
The police registered a case of murder after they found her ribs broken and strangulation marks on her neck. Police Sub-Inspector R. Rane, of the Parksite police station, said they received a call about a body lying under the stones in Powai near Swami Narayan Mandir on Sunday evening.
“Nobody has claimed the body yet,” said Rane. He added that the body has been sent for a post-mortem and the police are awaiting reports.
Police sources said the woman did not seem to be from an affluent family, as she was wearing two torn blouses and a torn saree. But the police are also not ruling robbery as the motive.
