Beatles music to be digitised

Rock legend Paul McCartney has signed a deal with computer giant Hewlett-Packard to preserve the music created by the Beatles in digital form.

The singer’s library of tracks, as well as artwork, films and videos, will by digitised, and parts of the collection will be open to fans.

“I hope it will allow people who might be interested to access parts of our archives they might otherwise not be able to,” says the music icon, adding, “I’ve always been interested in creative ideas and new ways of reaching people, so this is a really exciting initiative for me.”

The collection includes some unique items that have never been seen before by the public. For instance, McCartney had cameras follow him while he attended events such as Live Aid, and that footage has not previously been released.
