A T20 tournament featuring different franchises from cricketing countries is set to commence on September 17 in five cities across India. Lyricist-screenplay writer Prasoon Joshi, music composer Shantanu Moitra and singer Mika are looking to create buzz around the event through their song, Ragad ragad.

To ensure that the song reaches out to as wide an audience as possible, Prasoon has chosen to write it using everyday language. He says, “This song represents competition. It’s like a challenge — come out and play. This event consists of teams who have qualified after winning their home tournament. So, it’s a championship between champions. That’s why I wanted to use language that was catchy.”

Ask him if he found Mika’s voice most suitable for the song, and he says, “The moment I finished the song, I thought of Mika. I wanted to work with him.” And apart from Shantanu, Prasoon had also taken help from writer Pradduman Chauhan, and Arun Gopalan, who helped direct the music video.

Even Mika sounds excited to be associated with this project. “I am a huge cricket fan and this is the first time I will be associating with this beautiful game,” says Mika. The song is already on air on a major sports channel.
