Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan confirmed his collaboration with rapper Honey Singh for the song "Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance)", and clarified that it was not part of his forthcoming film Chennai Express. The song is a tribute to legendary actor Rajinikanth.

Honey Singh and T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar had approached Shah Rukh five days back with a song dedicated to veteran actor Rajnikanth, who is given the title Thalaivar (supreme leader) by his fans.

Confirming this, Shah Rukh said, "Who isn't a fan of 'The Rajinikanth'? I had met Honey Singh and Bhushan Kumar five days back and he made me hear the song, which is titled Thalaivar Tribute (Lungi Dance). "I found it very apt for Rajini sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have." King Khan also agreed to be a part of the dedication because its theme is very close to Chennai Express.

Composed, written and sung by Honey Singh, the song was choreographed by veteran choreographer Chinni Prakash.

Actress Deepika Padukone, SRK's co-star in Chennai Express is also a part of the special song. "Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of Rajini sir. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajinikanth Style," said Shah Rukh.

Chennai Express, an action comedy directed by Rohit Shetty, releases August 9.

It looks like Shah Rukh Khan is determined to leave no stone unturned to ensure his latest project Chennai Express works out just fine.

And his latest brainwave is to get the much sought-after Honey Singh to compose a special item song for the film. A move that has apparently not gone down well with composers Vishal-Shekhar who are behind the rest of the songs in this eagerly-awaited film.
