Singing duets?

Bollywood’s most favoured playback singers have performed on many stages together. Sonu Niigaam and Shaan have shared credits on super hits like
Dus bahane
from
Dus
. They have separately hosted TV show Saregama and appeared as co-judges on reality music shows like
Indian Idol
as well.
Long time coming
After nearly five years, the duo now returns together to co-anchor and perform at an awards ceremony to be held on January 27 in the city. Shaan is excited about sharing the stage with Niigaam, whom he considers his peer.
“Both of us started our careers nearly at the same time, but I started playback much after he did. We both got discovered on TV and both of us have sung for Shah Rukh Khan,” grins Shaan.
Besides co-anchoring, the two are also performing a medley of their best-loved tracks together on stage at the awards show.
“I can’t tell you which tracks we will be performing, but it will be a 30-minute set,” says Shaan, who adds that he is looking forward to singing more duets with Niigaam.
“We both share an excellent camaraderie. We harmonise well with each other’s voices, so it’s always great to share the mic
together,” says Shaan of his industry friend. “At some point, I would also like to record some self-composed songs together,” he adds with a grin.
The two singers will lead a line-up of live performances by other artistes like Daler Mehndi, Vishal Shekhar, Mika, Neeraj Shridar, Anushka Manchanda and more.
Grand jury
The jury includes Javed Akhtar, Aadesh Shrivastava, Alka Yagnik, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lalit Pandit, Louis Banks, Prasoon Joshi, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Ramesh Sippy, Shankar Mahadevan, Subhash Ghai, Sadhana Sargam and Suresh Wadkar.
