Congress Yatra 2.0 to begin on August 21
NEW DELHI: The Congress will launch its second phase of election campaigns in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh from August 21 during which the party plans to reach out to voters in 66 districts.
The phase — that will cover all the five zones of UP — will end on October 9, party general secretary in-charge of UP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, said.
The Congress has divided its leaders into two groups for the campaign.
Each group will cover 33 districts each. Congress chief ministerial candidate, Sheila Dikshit, campaign committee chairman Sanjay Singh, senior leaders Sriprakash Jaiswal, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Zafar Ali Naqvi, Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary and Abdul Mannan Ansari have been made the members of one of the groups.
“This time, we are fighting the elections to form the government and not just to increase our tally,” Azad said. “In our endeavour, we will seek the support of all the communities.”
