ODISHA: A teacher was awarded 11 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 65,000 by a local court in Odisha for kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old student. Ganjam district and sessions judge Malay Ranjan Das slapped the fine on Prasant Kumar Patra of Digapahandi and ordered Rs 75,000 compensation to the victim. The VIII standard student was kidnapped by her tuition teacher when she was on her way to attend his class on September 9, 2014. He kept her in captivity for two days during which he raped her.
