Cops to study cases to ensure women’s safety in Noida

The decisions were taken during a meeting at the office of the senior superintendent of police in Sector 14A on Saturday morning, conducted by the additional director general (ADG) of police (Karmik), Meera Rawat, in which she interacted with the respective superintendents of police (crime) from various districts in the Meerut zone.

“Senior officials are looking to combat crimes against women. The ADG has been given charge of Meerut and Bareilly zones to review the situation and look into the problem. The meeting had participation of SPs and circle officers from the nine districts in Meerut zone. The basic idea was to do a close review of the existing cases to come up with solutions to better handle cases where women are targeted,” Ashok Kumar Singh, SP (crime), Noida, said.

He said the police will also monitor the success of teams already working on such issues. “Teams like the anti-romeo squad are already working to handle such cases. The route maps that such teams follow are made keeping in mind all the sensitive areas. We will only monitor their success and make further improvements and then we will map such city initiatives in the rural areas as well,” Singh said.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of various women shelter homes and NGOs in Noida.

“We asked them to give their inputs and feedback as well. Certain points were raised and we will work on improving the policing in order to incorporate them. The ultimate goal is to ensure crimes against females go down,” the superintendent of police said.
