FIR against Noida couple for beating minor help with belt

A 12-year-old girl, working as a domestic help, was allegedly beaten up by her employer in Sector 20 area.

A 12-year-old girl, working as a domestic help, was allegedly beaten up by her employer in Sector 20 area, the police said. A case has been registered against the engineer couple who had brought the girl from Begusarai in Bihar to work as a domestic help and to take care of their newborn.

The couple was identified as Vikku Shrivastava and his wife Sarika, the police said.

“Other residents in the area informed the Sector 20 police station that a girl was seen crying in the park. A woman police officer was sent to the spot. It was learnt that the girl was beaten up and had fled her employer’s residence. She was handed over to the child welfare committee for counselling,” said Amarnath Yadav, SHO, Sector 20 police station.

After counselling the girl, the NGO found that she was assaulted with a belt as her employer’s child had allegedly got injured.

“The girl is in trauma. She was beaten up with a belt. She said she was brought to Noida a few months ago by a couple who also hail from her home town Begusarai. She was sent to the shelter home after primary medical treatment. Her parents were informed about the incident,” said Satya Prakash, programme manager, FXB India Suraksha, an NGO which works to rescue children in distress for the Childline.

Following the statement of the victim, a case under relevant sections of the IPC was registered against, the police said.
