According to the police, the girl, who is movement impaired, worked part time in a cloth factory on Meerut Road and was on her way back home. Around 9pm, she was waiting at the Old Bus Stand for an autorickshaw, when an auto driver offered to drop her home.

“Instead of driving her home, the driver took another route and also asked her for her mobile phone. He told her that he wants to call his friend as the auto had developed a snag. From her phone, he called up two friends. One of them, Ravi, resides in Garima Garden. When the two men arrived, they pretended to repair the vehicle and then drove her to Ravi’s house in Garima Garden,” Rakesh Mishr, circle officer (Sahibabad), said.

The girl is from Amethi and resides at a rented house in a locality under Sihani Gate police station area in Ghaziabad.

The police said the trio drove the girl a distance of 10km, from the Old Bus Stand to Garima Garden in Sahibabad. At Ravi’s residence in Garima Garden, they allegedly gang-raped her and later the two accused fled Ravi’s house. The victim took help from local women and informed the police. She was later taken to the police station where she filed a complaint. She told us that of the three, two auto drivers raped her,” Mishr said.

The girl said, “The auto driver offered to drop me home but he took a different route which I was not aware of. He told me that he will drop me home by another route. After the incident I took help from locals and called up the police helpline (100). I am not well and am returning to my native place now.”

Following her complaint, the police conducted a late night raid at the house where the incident took place and arrested Ravi. However, the two auto drivers could not be located. The police said that they have got leads from Ravi about the men.

“We have formed teams and the auto drivers will be arrested soon,” said Vaibhav Krishna, SSP Ghaziabad. The police said that the victim has given a written statement, declining an internal medical examination.
