Meet Nidhi Kesarwani, the new Ghaziabad District Magistrate

Nidhi Kesarwani, a 2004 batch IAS officer, is the second woman officer to be posted as District Magistrate, Ghaziabad.

Nidhi Kesarwani, a 2004 batch IAS officer, who took charge as the new district magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad district, said that providing better law and order situation to citizens is her top priority.

She is the second woman officer to be posted as DM of Ghaziabad district. Earlier, IAS Aparna Upadhyaya also held the post of Ghaziabad DM in 2012. Kesarwani replaces Vimal Kumar Sharma who has been appointed as Special Secretary in Trade and Entertainment Tax department.

Kesarwani, who has earlier been posted as DM in different districts like Firozabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shravsati, Bulandshahr and Etah, also highlighted the need for better implementation of development policies and a better environment for women.

“We will aim to work with a better inter-departmental coordination and will bring results at ground level in connection with the development schemes. I will visit the areas personally to see the development work and a team of officials will also regularly visit different areas. We will also make efforts for better safety and security and will work towards the issue,” she added.

In her first meeting held on Wednesday, Kesarwani issued strict directions to officials to complete all the preparations for upcoming kanwar yatra by July 22. She added that she will personally visit the spots and ensure that preparations were up to mark, else FIR would be lodged against officials and their department would be held accountable.
